  • A red warning light stays on

Likely causes

  • Fault in the rear electrical connections
  • Main fuse or breaker has tripped

Fault 02

Ventilation & overheating problems

Severity: critical

Symptoms to look for

  • Cabinets above the unit become abnormally hot
  • Front panel runs hot to the touch
  • Faint burning smell coming from the appliance
  • Unit shuts itself off after a short while

Likely causes

  • Rear ventilation openings are blocked or undersized
  • Internal cooling fan has failed
  • Original installation does not match Smeg's spec

How we fix it

Our technician inspects the full ventilation path, cleans the cooling fan, and verifies the safety clearances around the unit per Smeg's manual. If the original install is wrong, we correct it.

Severity: critical

Symptoms to look for

  • Water trickling inside the cabinet or onto the floor
  • Damp patches on the wood around the unit

  • Discoloration of the surrounding wood

Likely causes

  • Inlet or outlet hose is damaged or cracked
  • Rubber door gasket has worn through

  • Condensation from poor ventilation

How we fix it

We carefully remove the unit from the kitchen, inspect every hose and joint, replace damaged parts with originals, and run a full leak test once everything is back in place.

Fault 04

Abnormal noises from the built-in unit

Severity: medium

Symptoms to look for

  • Loud humming or roaring noise
  • Vibration transferring into the surrounding cabinet
  • Metallic rattling sound
  • Noise gets worse as it runs

Likely causes

  • Mounting has loosened inside the cabinet over time

How we fix it

We re-check the mounting inside the cabinet, re-torque the brackets, fit fresh rubber isolators, and inspect the internals to isolate the source of the noise. Built-ins demand precise fixing so sound doesn't travel through the kitchen.

Why the authorized center is the only safe choice for Smeg built-ins

Built-ins are pricier and more complex than standalone appliances — and because they sit inside the cabinetry, a bad repair can damage the whole kitchen.

Authorized service partner of Smeg Italy
01

Experience removing & refitting without damaging the kitchen

Built-ins are fitted with fine tolerances inside bespoke cabinetry. Our technicians are trained to extract them without damaging wooden cabinets and without scratching adjacent fronts or units. A generalist technician can destroy thousands of pounds of woodwork.

Result Your kitchen looks exactly as it did before we arrived.
02

Technicians trained on advanced built-in models

Built-ins tend to be the newest, most technology-heavy models — touch displays, advanced firmware and smart systems. Our technicians are trained on those specific platforms by the manufacturer.

Result Precise diagnosis, clean execution.
03

Genuine parts for built-in models

Built-in parts differ from standard appliance parts and are harder to source on the open market. We pull them straight from Smeg's official warehouses.

Result Warrantied parts matched exactly to your model.
04

Written warranty from Smeg

The warranty is printed on an official invoice and backed by Smeg Egypt. This matters even more with built-ins because the repairs are more expensive.

Result Your investment in your kitchen is protected.
05

Understanding how built-ins integrate

Modern kitchens run several built-ins as a set — the oven, microwave and hood may share a common system. Our technicians know how to keep them in sync after the repair.

Result All the appliances work in harmony once we're done.

Critical warning

A technician who isn't a built-in specialist can damage:

  • The kitchen woodwork, which can cost tens of thousands to replace
  • Neighboring appliances during a clumsy removal
  • The ventilation system that protects every unit from heat
  • The factory warranty on every appliance in the kitchen

The authorized center protects your entire investment.

01 Why is built-in service more expensive than standard appliances?

Three real factors: access is harder because the unit has to come out of the cabinet carefully and be refitted precisely; built-in models are newer and need pricier diagnostic tools and parts; and the technician has to know how to handle bespoke kitchen cabinetry. The specialist cost protects your whole kitchen investment.

02 Do built-ins always have to come out of the kitchen for repair?

No. Lamp, filter and gasket swaps, burner cleaning and front-panel fixes happen without removal. Motor, compressor, rear-wiring and internal leak repairs need partial or full extraction. The technician always chooses the least invasive approach.

03 My built-in is old — are parts still available?

Smeg keeps parts available for a long time — usually 10–15 years after a model is discontinued. The authorized center can pull parts from Smeg's official warehouses, and when a specific part is truly out of production we source a compatible original or propose an alternative fix.

04 What's the difference between built-in, semi built-in and fully integrated?

Full built-in: fully integrated into the cabinet with a matching front — hardest to remove, common for dishwashers. Semi built-in: partially integrated with a visible control front — easier to service. Fully integrated: completely hidden with controls on top — the hardest of all. Know your type before calling.

05 Is a built-in unit sensitive to ventilation?

Yes — critically so. Built-in ovens need rear and top ventilation, microwaves need side or top vents, refrigerators need precise clearances, and dishwashers need top venting for steam. If the install skipped these, the appliance won't last. Warning signs: hot cabinets, faint burning smell, automatic shut-offs, discolored wood. We always check ventilation as part of the service.

The whole kitchen is Smeg built-in and I was nervous when the oven died. Most technicians refused or wanted to dismantle the kitchen. The authorized technician removed the oven without a single scratch on the cabinetry, repaired it and refitted it precisely. Every other appliance got checked on the same visit. Impressive service.

The dishwasher was leaking inside the cabinet and the wood had started to suffer. The technician arrived fast, removed it carefully and found the rear hose was cracked. He replaced the hose and gasket with originals and ran a long test to confirm no other leaks. Thankfully the wood could still be saved.

That model is rare and complicated. Previous technicians told me nobody could fix it. The authorized center has a specialist in combination units who diagnosed a problem on the shared board between the oven and microwave and repaired it for a reasonable price compared with replacement.

One burner died completely. The technician lifted the hob out of the marble with exceptional care, repaired the ignition circuit and refitted it precisely. Not a scratch on the marble. He also cleaned every burner as part of the visit.

The steam oven is a very advanced model and I was scared to let anyone touch it. The technician tested it with proper diagnostic tools, found a minor sensor fault in the steam system, replaced the sensor with an original and recalibrated the unit.

The hood was loud and vibrating heavily. The technician found the mounting had weakened over time and the vibration was traveling through the whole kitchen. He re-fitted it precisely, fitted fresh rubber isolators and re-tightened the brackets. The noise vanished.

The fridge had started to get loud and the cabinet next to it was warming up. The technician explained the rear cooling fan needed replacement and that the original ventilation was flawed. He fixed both in one visit. Thorough diagnostics make a real difference.
